Far too many talented writers are overlooked; agencies and production companies are inundated with submissions, and when there's a three-foot stack of scripts and only the work experience kid available to read them, it's inevitable that some real gems are doomed to linger in slush pile limbo forever.
Seamus Lyte Management has teamed up with two film and television professionals to bring you this script reading service.
There are plenty of script reading services available, and we've selected the best aspects of each in order to provide the best service and value for money possible.
- You will receive a full report (typically 1500 - 2500 words) on your script, which will consider structure, characterisation and dialogue.
- You will have the right to reply: after receiving your report, we will answer three specific questions in relation to issues raised in the report. This further interaction is included in the fee.
- Once you have redrafted your work you may resubmit it for a 25% discount.
- Your script will be read by someone with relevant professional experience, not just an aspiring writer. You can remain confident that your script idea will not, therefore, be stolen.
- You will have the opportunity, if it is mutually agreed, for us to approach suitable agencies on your behalf.
What we will consider:
- Comedy, drama, thriller - any genre really, except for gratuitous pornography.
- Screenplays and stage plays, short film scripts and television scripts (but not television formats).
- Scripts up to 120 pages in ordinary format. (Scripts above 120 pages will incur a £1 per page additional fee.)
- Ideally scripts should be laid out in industry standard format, and we reserve the right to not read scripts if they do not adhere to basic industry format guidelines.
Fees:
The script reading service costs £120 + vat. This covers a full in-depth report on your work, and answers to the 3 specific questions you may ask relating to issues raised in the report.
A resubmission of the same work, after redrafting, will constitute a new submission and merit a new fee - subsequent submissions of the same work will be charged at £90 + vat. (based on the current 25% discount)
Should we feel strongly enough about your work to then secure you representation, Seamus Lyte Management would reserve the right to a small, negotiable commission.
We aim to get back to you within 4 weeks, but acknowledge that we may not always be able to stick to this timeframe.
